CRISPR deletion of POGZ alters gene regulation at synaptic signaling genes

Researchers used CRISPR engineering to delete the POGZ gene and studied the effects on how transcription factors bind to DNA at the promoters of genes involved in synaptic signaling. The findings suggest that POGZ plays a role in regulating the activity of genes connected to communication between nerve cells. This work may help explain how POGZ mutations lead to the neurological features seen in White-Sutton syndrome.
