Rat Model with Truncated Satb1 Gene Reproduces Neurodevelopmental Symptoms Seen in Human Patients
Researchers created a rat model carrying a truncating mutation in the Satb1 gene and found it recapitulates neurodevelopmental abnormalities similar to those observed in patients with SATB1 mutations. SATB1 is a chromatin organizer closely related to POGZ, and understanding its role in animal models may shed light on shared mechanisms underlying White-Sutton syndrome and related neurodevelopmental conditions. This study provides a new tool for investigating the biological basis of these disorders.
